A 14-year-old Refill American Oak single cask expression Sullivans Cove. Cask TD 0121 was filled 1 August 2006 into an American oak barrel which had previously held another Sullivans Cove, and was decanted 21 January 2021 as a 14-year-old. Bottled at 47.5% with just 440 bottles from the 300L cask.
Tasting note
Nose:
Bright energy shoots from the glass: woody spices and a bag of dried fruit and nuts. Glacé pineapple and dried mango, canned peaches. Dusty coconut, peanut butter and sandalwood ground the brighter notes with some earthiness.
Palate:
Excellent thick, textural entry. Coconut, dried apricot, and loads of nougat. Roasting almonds, a fun splash of thyme, cloves and a touch of tobacco. Green RSL jelly and toffee apple.
Finish:
Raspberry jam, white chocolate and a dusting of cocoa. Macadamia nuts, nougat again, peaches and coconut cream. Quite a lovely, deep fudgey malt character.
