WHISKY OF THE WORLD

Green Spot Chateau Montelena Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey

Green Spot launched a range of wood finishes in 2015 with a whisky part matured in x Chateau Leoville Barton barrels (ex-Bordeaux barrels from the namesake winery). This Chateau Montelena brings together Irish traditions from both County Cork and the Napa Valley of California. An Irishman by the name of Barrett purchased the struggling Chateau Montelena winery in the 1970s, hence the association. Distilled from malted and unmalted barley, it's composed of whiskeys that are 7 to 10 years old, aged an additional twelve months in French oak Zinfandel casks from Chateau Montelena.

Warenghem Distillery Armorik Double Maturation Single Malt French Whisky

Armorik’s double maturation takes a different approach to your standard modern whiskies. Where bourbon barrels are often the base of scotch, the double maturation favours local French grown virgin oak casks before finishing the dram in a more traditional sherry. The result is phenomenal and certainly unique.

Cotswolds Founder's Choice Cask Strength English Single Malt Whisky

This release sees Cotswolds' creamy, fruity new-make filled into American oak STR barriques for just over three years. The Master Blender selected nine for the final cut. The inaugural batch was dedicated to industry legend, Dr. Jim Swan, who encouraged Cotswolds to shave, toast, and re-char red wine barriques. Subsequent batches have followed. The highly active casks were finally disgorged and bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill filtered and with no added colouring.

SCOTCH Malts

Gordon & Macphail Distillery Labels Mortlach 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A well-balanced and nuanced Mortlach, selected and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as part of the Distillery Labels range. Rather than the full-on sherry monsters that Mortlach is better known for, this is a more complex take, with restrained sherry-cask notes and lots of Mortlach's rich and malty character. If you're a sherry fan, don't worry: there's still lots of rich fruit and raisins here, tempered by a touch of sultana and vanilla.

Dalmore 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Time, different cask types, varying sizes, and warehouse conditions can all influence the maturity of a single malt. For this Dalmore, 13 years in American Bourbon Casks and then a year split between Matusalem, Apostoles and Amoroso sherry butts from Jerez de la Frontera have been elemental. And to achieve this extra layer of complexity, they marry these liquids together in a sherry butt for one final year. The redolence of these vessels delivers the perfect balance between spirit, wood and maturity.

Chief's Son The Tanist Single Malt Australian Whisky (VIC)

This extraordinarily smooth, sweet, yet rich whisky is forged by a long marriage of spirit in ‘double wood’, essentially using two types of oak barrels to mature the spirit. The early smooth honey, sweet vanilla and citrus character is derived from the harder American oak, whilst the bold rich flavours of stone fruits, dark toffees and old sherry come from the lush French oak casks. The rich, oily malts create a honey-like mouthfeel and a beautifully long finish.

JAPANESE MALTS

White Oak Eigashima Sherry Cask Finish Blended Japanese Whisky

This Eigashima Blended Sherry Cask Finish whisky is a brilliant new release from the Akashi White Oak distillery that was created from their own single malt and imported grain before being matured in bourbon barrels and finished in sherry barrels. It’s a smooth and delicious whisky that brings lots of oak, rich fruits and a range of intriguing spices.

Togouchi whisky Sake Cask Finish

In the oak casks used for aging white wines in Japanese wineries, we matured Sake (junmai-shu) brewed by us and then used the Sake Cask to wood finish for Togouchi whisky. With a light fruit scent and a moderate acidity derived from white wine and Sake, a sweetness like brown sugar derived from the wood finish, the harmony of sweet taste with the mellow fruity aroma is enjoyable.

Tokinoka Black Japanese Whisky

Made from 50% malt whisky and 50% grain whisky aged in 3 different types of casks (Bourbon, Xeres and new oak), this version richer in malt presents a very nice roundness in the mouth and combines at the same time a spicy and creamy sharp side, with a soft and vanilla finish characteristic of Tokinoka.

Yamazakura Blended Japanese Whisky

Yamazakura is a new release from Sasanokawa distillery, dating back to 1765 with recognised sake and schochu. Based in the city of Koriyama Sasanokawa expanded into whisky in the 1940s. This represents a high-end complement to their entry level whisky range ('Yama' means 'mountain' and 'Sakura' means cherry tree, hence the beautiful label design). This blend is composed of four malt whiskies and one grain whisky. Orange blossoms on the nose, followed by oak, caramel, and fresh orchard fruit on the palate.

Michel Couvreur Overaged Single Malt Whisky

Courveur's "Scotch" starts out in Scotland as bulk a.k.a.“clearach” (a high proof distillate) which is transferred to his humid cellar in Bouze-les-Beaune to be aged in small sherry casks that have been impregnated with 24 years ageing via traditional soleras.

Overaged Malt Whisky is a vatting of single malts aged between 12 and 27 years in oak casks and resulting from a cognac (double) distillation method with a mash exclusively made of Malt (germinated barley).
