Macallan Rare Cask 2020 Release Single Malt Whisky Review

Alright whisky lovers, gather 'round for a real treat today! I'm sampling the legendary Macallan Rare Cask 2020, and let me tell ya, this ain't your average tipple at the local pub.

a bottle of whisky with label Morris Rutherglen Smoked Muscat Limited Edition

First impressions? It pours a deep, rich amber, hinting at the complex journey your taste buds are about to embark on.

Now, let's get to the fun part: the nose. Close your eyes and inhale. Seriously, do it. I get a symphony of dried fruits—think Christmas cake dipped in honey, and all the spices like cloves, nutmegs. But then, a twist! A whiff of well-worn leather and a subtle hint of antique furniture polish. Don't worry, it's not your nan's attic we're smelling. This is all part of the Macallan magic. The sherry-seasoned oak casks used for maturation are working overtime.

On the palate, hold onto your hats! It's a rollercoaster of rich dark chocolate, dark fruits like raisins, dates, a playful kick of ginger spice, some orange zest wonder around, and a lingering whisper of oak. This isn't just about flavour, it's about texture and depth, too. It's silky smooth, almost chewy.

The finish? Long, lingering, and leaves you wanting more.  It's complex, surprising, and ridiculously smooth all at the same time.

The Macallan Rare Cask 2020 is a conversation starter, a whisky that begs to be shared and debated. It's a reminder that there's always something new to discover in the world of whisky. Now, let's get real for a sec. This dram ain't cheap but trust me, it's worth a try. And if you're looking for an extra dose of luxury, pair it with a Montecristo cigar for a truly unforgettable experience.

Happy sipping! Sláinte!
