Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection 1981 Lochside Distillery 40 YO | Barley and Malt
top of page

Lochside was a brewery from 1786 until it was converted into a distillery in 1957 by Macnab Distilleries. The brewery incorporated a white tower – a classic German Brauhaus design. Charles Doig reinterpreted that feature when he designed the distillery in 1899.

The distillery initially had a Coffey still. In 1961 four pot stills were added. The Coffey still was eventually decommissioned. The distillery operated the pot stills until 1991. It was mothballed in 1994 and sold to property developers before demolishing in 2005.
